The Christie-Smith Fund, administered by The Dr. & Mrs. H.E. Christie Community Foundation, is here to support churches, service clubs, organizations, associations, and organized groups of any kind that are qualified donees (registered charities) with the intent of impacting or advancing Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. 

Our work prioritizes our local communities

The Dr. & Mrs. H.E. Christie Community Foundation has been a supporter of our local communities since 2003. The Macleod Stanley Scholarship has been available to Amherst Regional High School (ARHS) students since 2010. The Christie – Smith Fund has been administered by the Foundation and supporting our community since 2018. 

Over 3.7 million dollars in grant funding have been provided to over 400 recipients to relieve poverty and to support the advancement of the following:

The Christie- Smith Fund awards grants to qualified donees (registered charities) to benefit the people living within and the advancement of Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. 

The Macleod Scholarship

Supporting post-secondary education for local graduates,  this Scholarship is open to Amherst Regional High School (ARHS) graduates pursuing a post-secondary education at an accredited school. Application forms are available in the main ARHS office or on the ARHS website.   

Cumberland Health Care Foundation Recipient

The Dr. & Mrs. H.E. Christie Community Foundation has been instrumental in the success of our programs that support mental health & addictions, youth health, Cumberland Cancer Assistance, equipment acquisition, physician and health care professions recruitment and retention, and the Cumberland Health Care Careers Bursary.

Habitat for Humanity Recipient

With the support of The Christie-Smith Fund families can create better, affordable living conditions that lead to improved health, stronger childhood development, and the ability - and financial flexibility - to make forward-looking choices

After the School Bell Food Program Recipient

The Christie - Smith Fund has supported the After the School Bell Food Program with a financial donation in 2021. This donation was used to purchase food items, which in turn provided food security on a weekly basis to 120 children during the school year in Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education, District 1.
